A truly great designer is one who can ascertain, develop and successfully implement their client’s desired aesthetic. At Dallas Design Group Interiors, we pride ourselves on the ability to do just that. As a nod to the current appeal of a cleaner, transitional, and less-is-more aesthetic, we’ve compiled some of our favorite “must-have” looks and techniques to aid you in perhaps adapting them to your personal spaces.

When making selections for a space, don’t limit yourself to just one primary surface or finish! Why not pick two? Consider mixing it up by incorporating multiple materials such as wood and adding interesting metals which is something we love to do! This mix creates a warm space and allows you to take advantage of the current metal obsession. Not sure how or where to mix metals? Try introducing them as a main focal point in your kitchen’s vent hood, or entry door… or in more subtle ways with great cabinet hardware that adds a wow factor. Another thing we love to do to create that interesting two-toned effect is through the pairing of two different wood species or stains.

In modern design, the feeling of openness and continuous flow is a must. Consider floating your cabinets;  as it not only makes the space feel lighter, but also more spacious as the flooring continues to flow underneath the cabinets.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks while we continue to explore modern design and techniques such as repetition and the use of waterfall slabs!
