I recently traveled to Bangkok and Chiang Mai Thailand for a vacation in December. Although not my first time in Asia, this was my first time in Thailand.
I have been enjoying Thai cuisine for many years in Dallas, Texas and dining in Thailand was certainly no disappointment. From ‘ street food vendors ‘ to fine dining and anything in between, the quality and taste of the Thai food was consistent. If you like it hot, you ask for “Thai hot! “
One of the first things you notice are the people. Their nature is kind hearted. You see it in their eyes and their gentle mannerisms.
Because the temperatures are moderate, it is a lush tropical environment where flowers and blooming trees flourish. I wish you could smell the fresh jasmine now, it is so potent! The top center photo shows a common jasmine bouquet which many people adorn their bodies or their rearview mirrors with.
From temples to houses, the architecture spans from new to old, modern to traditional. The top left photo is a house style referred to as “Tropical Modern “, how cool is that?
…and yes, they still use bamboo for support while constructing modern buildings!
Mai Nai Gardens
Located just outside Chiang Mai, Thailand in an area called Mae Rim. This beautiful modern home along with 8 traditional bungalows is situated on more than 50 acres of lush tropical gardens. This was our home away from home for 7 nights. The owners, Ian and Pop, made us feel so welcome by inviting us to dinner, introducing us to their friends and just spending quality time showing us around their beautiful gardens.
